Opened in 1985 with a core of established Scottish artists, Hanover Fine Arts has promoted a varied programme of mixed exhibitions alternating with small group or featured artist shows. Its New Town gallery on Dundas Street closed in August 2009 to concentrate on building up a web-based business representing a mix of established and younger artists, as well as those from abroad, particularly from the former Soviet Bloc, i.e. Bulgaria, Lithuania, Russia & Ukraine; also Belgium, Brazil, China, Germany, Holland, Japan and U.S.A.
Renowned over the years for its extensive range of works and styles, the gallery received reviews from the media such as: “…full of exceedingly accessible works … at exceedingly accessible prices” (The Financial Times). This policy of affordable artworks will be reinforced by selling through our website, with a considerable saving in overheads, which will be passed on to our customers in the form of lower prices.
